Momentum Repertory Company is proud to present The Unlikely Adventure of Race McCloud, Private Eye as part of the 13th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC from August 14th - 30th.
The Unlikely Adventure of Race McCloud, Private Eye is a comic-book style comedy/adventure about the second-most clueless detective in Westside City. When his secret-agent family goes missing, it is up to Race and his 15 year-old super-genius niece Cookie to find them. Their search takes them around the world, and they soon face off against a masked vigilante, vampires, werewolves, ancient Egyptian curses, Perfect Troopers, and more as they hunt for their missing relatives.
Writer/Director Tom Hoefner first created Race McCloud over ten years ago, as the main character of a series of Murder Mystery Dinners that he began writing while a student at St. Josephs College, Brooklyn, at the age of 18. Over time, he has further developed Race and his world in stories designed to be told through a wide array of media, including film, comics, and audio drama. For this, Races definitive adventure, he has brought the detective back to where it all began, and to where he truly belongs: the stage.
Race features an original score by composer Andrew Barkan (Conlag, Noor, ads for Sprint), choreography by popular Broadway Dance Center instructor Lainie Munro (Hope and Faith w/Kelly Ripa, Oklahoma! w/Rue McClanahan), fight choreography by Eugene Solfanelli (Broken Crayon), sound design by FringeNYC veteran Geoff Moonen, and promotional artwork by cartoonist and graphic designer Kev Gillespie (www.rhcomics.com). The cast combines both young and established talent. Tom Brown as Race and Fiona Kearns as Cookie headline a group that features Ms. Munro, Mr. Solfanelli, Cas Marino (Torch Song Trilogy, Black Henna Productions), Jade Rothman, Adam Mace, Jeremy Lardieri, Kiley McDonald, Justin Burke, and Ted Frank.
Mindy Kay Smith and Jackie Jacobi founded Momentum Repertory Company in 2008 with the purpose of providing young artists a safe haven which to develop their creative voices. Over the past year they have produced revivals of Godspell and Barefoot in the Park as well as a very successful reading series. Race McCloud is their first production of a full-length original work.
